Movement Journalism

I was one of the co-organizers of the 2018 Movement Journalism track hosted by the Allied Media Conference.

Movement journalism is the practice of journalism in the service of social, political, and economic transformations that make it possible for everyone to have power over the conditions of their lives and communities. We believe movement journalism has the potential to transform relationships between social and racial justice movements and the practice of journalism.

Over 100 people participated in a Movement Journalism track at the 2018 Allied Media Conference (AMC) in June 2018. In addition to our list of sessions, we were able to provide scholarships primarily to under-represented writers of color with a focus on those residing in the U.S. South.
